Monthly Meeting
"Stitching Out of the Box and Off the Grid!" by Heather Holland-Daly
In September we will be kicking off the year with a talk by Heather Holland-Daly, a needlework artist based in Belleville, Illinois. She founded monsterbubbles, a cross stitch and needlework design company, in 2003 to fulfill her need for something cool and interesting to stitch. Heather's work has appeared in publications such as Just Cross Stitch, The Cross Stitcher, and also in an upcoming issues of Cross Stitch and Needlework. She is the author of Stitch Graffiti, a cross stitch book which came out this spring and is enjoying some success reaching stitchers who have never stitched and ones who have not stitched in years. She has been seen several times on the PBS show Needle Arts Studio with Shay Pendray and can be heard on the podcast Craft Sanity. Heather strives to bring cross stitching back to popularity, and to help make it the Cool, Hip thing to do. She will be talking to us about getting young people to stitch and some techniques for stitching on alternative surfaces.
